Singrēne Studio

About

Hi! I'm Gabs, the maker behind Singrēne Studio.

I have always loved jewellery, especially silver. I am like a magpie, coveting all things pretty and shiny and have been adorning myself in silver jewellery since before I can remember. I never imagined I'd end up making jewellery myself until I decided to enrol on an evening college course in 2023. I completely fell in love with the process, and wanting to further develop my skills, I am now completing the Diploma in Silver Jewellery with the Jewellers Academy.

Growing up, my mum was always interested in antiques, creating a home full of weird and wonderful objects. That's where my love for history and vintage objects began. My mum also sowed the seed for my love of the outdoors. Some of my favourite childhood memories are of us paddling in streams on the hunt for pottery shards, as well as beachcombing the UK shoreline during my school summer holidays. We would bring our little treasures home and store them away in boxes, never quite knowing what to do with them. As I only use sea glass and pottery in my work, Singrēne Studio is the natural expression of my love for silver, mudlarking and beachcombing.

I draw influence from organic textures like the ripples of water and the patterns of light; the small details often overlooked in the natural world. Working with foraged materials gives me a glimpse into their unknown history. Where has it been? Who held it before me? How long has it been lost? I love transforming these forgotten fragments into wearable pieces with a new life and story to tell. This means no two pieces are ever the same, making each one completely unique.

The name Singrēne is an Old English term, which translates to "always green" or "evergreen". An apt reflection of my interest in English heritage and history, my connection to nature, and my love for the colour green!
